Scanning Process
We use commercial grade scanners for all of our image scanning services.
Photos are scanned on full color flatbed scanners up to 16″ x 20″ with standard resolution of 600 dpi, and resolutions as high as 1200 dpi. Photos in albums can be extracted from the album when possible, or scanned in the pages and separated digitally (additional fees apply).
35 mm negatives and slides are scanned on dedicated EPSON Series commercial lab scanners with resolutions up to 4000 dpi. Our standard resolution is 3000 dpi and is equivalent to a full page scan at 600 dpi. Digital-ICE (Image Correction and Enhancement) dust and scratch removal is standard on all orders.
Medium format film items are also scanned on our EPSON Series commercial lab scanners with special adapters. Minimum resolution used is 3000 dpi for large format film and up to 4000 dpi for small items or special requirements. Digital-ICE dust and scratch removal is standard on all orders.
Output Formats
We deliver all scanned images in high-quality 8-bit JPEG, PGN or PDF format. TIFF format for Hi-quality scans is available upon request.
